Heather Mills Laces Up Vegan Skates For ‘Dancing On Ice’

January 11th, 2010 by Editor

heather mills, dancing on iceHeather Millshas brought her vegan ways to the reality seriesDancing On Ice.

The UK show — which is likeDancing with the Stars, but more slippery — has had to make sure everything from the food to the ice skates is animal-free for Ms. Mills. According tothe UK Daily Mail, the skates alone cost over $400 and were specially ordered. “Heather is adamant that she will not wear leather, which is barely a step down from fur as far as she is concerned,” a source said. “It was part of her conditions for going on the show, which also include an insistence that all her refreshments are vegan.”

“Vegan boots are not unheard of in ice-dancing because leather needs so much looking after, but they are not the standard by any means,” they added.

Mills debuted with 13 other celebrities on last night’s show, saying it’s been one of the most difficult things she’s ever done. “Training over the past few months has been so hard,” she said. “I’ve broken ribs, shifted my pelvis and injured my shoulder. Ice-skating is the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. It is almost impossible when my ankle won’t bend. But I’m really determined and I don’t care if I’m the worst skater there. It isn’t just my charities that benefit from my taking part. I am always looking to inspire other amputees.”
