Eco-friendly fashion designerStella McCartney, who wasrecently namedcreative director for the British Olympic Team, has designed a new t-shirt and tank top designed to raise awareness of the Meat Free Monday campaign. The tops feature a print by the late Linda McCartney called “Lucky in Daisies” and are made from organic cotton jersey.

Priced $195-$215, a portion of all sales will supportMeat Free Monday—a campaign started byPaul McCartneyand his daughters in 2009 to bring attention to the environmental impact of meat production and consumption.

The items will be launched inStella McCartney’s Bruton Street, London store as well as being available topurchase online.

Things are heating up in the2010 European Solar DecathlonasTeam Finlandhas unveiled a beautifulnet-zero homedesigned for cold climates with little access to the sun. That means that when the team’s home is up and running in Madrid, which gets plenty of sun, their home will turn into a energy generating machine,creating more energy than it uses. Named Luuku, which is Finnish for “hatch”, Team Finland’s entry was inspired by traditional Finnish architecture and centered almost completely around the use of timber.

Researchers in India have demonstrated that microscopic aquatic creatures could be used as the ecological equivalent of a canary in a coalmine for assessing inland freshwater lakes and ponds. The team reports how diatoms respond badly to pollutants and sewage contamination.

Roughly two hours ago, a team of celebrities and supporters successfully tweeted (how’s that for 21st century exploring?) that they had reached the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The trek, which started last Thursday, covers more than 50 miles and includes stars likeEmile Hirsch, Jessica Biel, Lupe Fiasco, Isabel Lucas, andElizabeth Gore. The goal is to raise awareness of the worldwide water crisis.
